インタビュアー（以後「イ」と表記）：Well, today you accept the invitation to participate in the home run derby.
How proud are you of that and what does it mean to you how big is that for you?

通訳（以後「一平」と表記）：The fact that he’s in the home derby?

大谷：まぁ力自慢の人達がいっぱい集まるので、まぁそこで、えーどれだけ自分が、
あー、できるのか、えー凄く興味はあります。

一平：Obviously there’s going to be a bunch of power hitters guys with a lot of power.
So I want to test myself with those guys.I’m really excited for that.

イ：As we talk about your game, how are you balancing things out how much more fun is it
to be able to pitch and hit and be able to be more involved offensively pretty much every single time.

一平：今年はフルでバッターとして出てますけど、両方投打フルで出てるという事はどういう意味を持つのでしょうか？　

大谷：まぁ、いろいろ怪我とかもあったので、まぁ本来こうやって出なきゃいけないのにー、あのー出来なかったとゆー
何年か続いていたので、まぁ今年は良いペースで出れてて良かったのかなとは思います。

一平：I feel like this is something that I should have been doing for my rookie year and on but obviously the injuries
held me back but now I’m back on tack doing whatI love to do so.So far it’s been really great.

イ：You’re really diligent with your swing.Mechanically tell me about the different swings approach right center field “uchukan?” he taught me and left center field “sachukan.”

一平：今日、右中間と左中間にホームランありましたけど、アプローチの違いは何だったんでしょうか？

大谷：もう、常にセンターに狙って、えー、まぁ後はコースによって、えー、左右に飛んでくれたらいいなとは思ってます。

一平：My approach is constantly trying to go to center field so depending on where the ball is located it might go to sachukan or uchukan “left center right center like you said so.That’s my approach.

イ：Thanks for teaching me one more thing. For the fans, now that the stadium is open, how much does that mean to you?

一平：あの、(入場者数)制限解除されてどうですか？

大谷：まぁ嬉しいんですけど、まだまだ足りないので、もっともっと入ってくれたら嬉しいなと思います。

一平：Yeah, I’m really happy but I think we could fill it up even more and get more guys in here and work for the team so I’ll be looking forward to seeing more guys in the stands.
